The Palace of the Lost City

There is a legendary tale that speaks of an ancient civilisation which travelled all the way from North Africa to the South to build a palace for their much-loved King. They stopped and selected a long-extinguished volcano crater. The palace served as the spiritual centre as their vast empire grew until an earthquake reduced it to ruins. The Palace has now been restored and is known as the Palace of the Lost City.

The architecture is very grand indeed, with the hotel entrance featuring colonnades of bamboo resting bronze elephant feet. The mosaic floor depicts animals stalking the plains of Africa and ceilings are decorated in the style of bygone Renaissance masters.

There are numerous activities to keep your family busy, including one of the best water parks in the world, fantastic golf courses and large entertainment centres. Nearby there are the fabulous plains and mountains of the Pilanesberg National Park which will provide you with excellent game viewing opportunities. You might also like to fly a Tiger Moth, ride and elephant, enjoy a mornings archery and clay pidgeon shooting.

The Palace has three restaurants from which to choose in the evening. The Villa del Palazzo restaurant serves fine Italian cuisine, while the Crystal Court specialises in Californian style there is also a Pool restaurant and two elegant lounge bars as well as a cocktail bar.

We would usually recommend that our clients spend two or three days here either at the end or the beginning of their family safari.
