If you family like strange and wonderful places with magnificent scenery on a grand scale, Namibia may be perfect for you.
There are not many animals, and some quite long journeys through arid landscapes and you need to devote at least a week to get “into” the country. Having done that , if things like bushman’s rock art, hundred year old plants, desert adapted spiders, fields of rare lichen and the sight of a group of crazy ostrich running to nowhere across a desert plain appeal to your enquiring mind and your sense of humour then you’ll love Namibia.
If you have the money, you must include Skeleton Coast National Park where twelve lucky people at a time have this fabulous corner of Africa to yourselves. This is the real Skeleton Coast with incredible dunescapes, an endless shoreline littered with whale bones, remote river gorges with desert elephant, towering “clay castles” and himba communities make this one of the most fascinating corners of Africa.
Combine that with the watery Okavango Delta and you have an awesome desert and delta holiday.
